KAMAKURA SASUKEMACHI

鎌倉市佐助町 佐助稲荷神社、銭洗弁財天宇賀福神社、鎌倉市扇ガ谷まで続く仮粧坂がある。

There are Sasuke Inari shrine, Zeniarai Benzaiten shrine,
Kewaizaka to Ougigatani city of Kamakura in sasuke-cho.
(Ougigatani is national designated historic site)

  • 佐助稲荷神社は閑静な住宅街の奥、銭洗弁天と鎌倉大仏の中間で鎌倉の隠れ里と言われる地にあり、朱の鳥居を抜ける参道から神狐、境内には所狭しと白狐が祀られています。
    永く鶴岡八幡宮の境外末社でしたが、明治42年(1909年)に独立した社となりました。

    Sasuke Inari shrine is located the back of quiet residential area. There is between Zeniarai Benzaiten shrine and Kamakura great buddha that called Kakurezato (Hidden Village) in Kamakura. You’ll see Shinko (a fox of a messenger of god) on the approach to escape the red torii.There are lots of Byakko (white fox of messenger of god) in shrine precinct. It was offshore subordinate shrine of Tsuruoka Hachimangu for long time, But it became independent in 1909 .

  • 2月には1年の豊作を祈願し初午祭りが執り行われます。
    豊作祈願で稲の穂が狐の尻尾に似ている所から狐を祀るようになったとも言われています。初夏には霊狐泉周辺の岩場に小さな紫色のイワタバコが咲き、秋は紅葉が赤く染まり木々の間から光を受けてとても美しく山を彩り、イチョウの葉は黄色く輝き、落ち葉は黄色い絨毯を敷き詰めた様に美しく厳かな雰囲気を明るく彩ります。

    Hatsuuma festival will be held with praying for a good harvest for 1 year in Feb. We are told you to have come to enshrine a fox from the place where an ear of the rice resembles a foxtail by good harvest prayer. Small purple flowers bloom around the Reikosen in early summer. The Japanese maple leaves will turn red in autumn. They receiving light from among the trees and beautifully coloring the mountains. Leaves of ginkgo biloba are shine yellow and The fallen leaves are beautiful as if laying a yellow carpet. It brightens the harsh atmosphere.

佐助稲荷神社の歴史

源頼朝を歴史的快挙に導いたという伝説から、
別名「出世稲荷」と呼ばれ信仰を集めています。

Yoritomo Minamot became the first seii taishogun after he won
the Battle of Dannoura. So Sasuke Inari shrine is called “Success Inari shraine”
and Sasuke Inari shrine collecting the faith of people .

    拝殿Haiden

    拝殿は神様にお参りする場所をいい、本殿すなわち神様がおられる処より前に拝殿は建てられています。

    本殿Honden

    拝殿の後ろの階段を上った処に本殿があります。
    本殿は宮司を除く何人も入ることは許されておらず、1895年明治28年に本殿は再建されています。

    There is the stairs behind Hiden and after you go up to the stairs there is Honden .
    Only Guji has permission to enter Honden .
    Honden was rebuilt in 1895 .

    霊狐泉Reiko Sen

    佐助稲荷は昔より麓の田畑を潤す水源の地で、境内の片隅には霊狐の神水と称される湧き水があり、生命の源であるこの水源を霊狐泉として讃えており今もこの霊狐泉は絶えることなく湧き出ています。ペットボトルなどに入れてお持ち帰りいただけます。
    (飲むことはできません。)

    Ground of Sasuke Inari fertilize the fields. There is a spring water named Reiko Sen as Sinsui (deity of water) in the corner of precincts. Reiko Sen is praised as a soul spring and Reiko Sen springs out without dying out. You can’t drink but you can take out water in a bottle if you want.

    佐助稲荷山への参道の登り口の社務所のとなりに十一面観世音菩薩が祀られています。縁結びの十一面観世音菩薩様で、良縁に恵まれなかった美しい姫君、赤松幸運が出家して現世の若い男女に良縁があるようにと祈願して彫ったと伝えられていています。毎年5月18日は十一面観世音菩薩様の御開帳があり(通常は非公開)、「般若心経」と「観音経」を宮司が読経します。

    The God of Marriage is worshiped at the entrance of the approach to a shrine. The beautiful princess who was not blessed with good matches, She carved a Kannonbosatu to wish for young couple’s god much. You are allowed to see Kannnonbosatu only once a year on May 18th .

    800年以上前から続く佐助稲荷には、人々から奉納された古い石の祠(ほこら)がたくさんあり、苔むした石祠の中に安置されているのは、神様のお使いである狐の像です。苔むした祠のそのまた上に御塚と呼ばれる自然の岩があり、白狐が祀られ祠を守っています。まだ社を持たない時代に、神が宿る岩として信仰を受けた神聖な場所です。

    There is a lots of small Hokora(small shrine)of old stone dedicated by people at Sasuke Inari shrine follows more than 800years .

    鳥居Torii

    鳥居とは神社などにおいて神が住む神域と人間が住む俗界を区画する結界であり、神域への入り口を示す門です。本殿の遠くから一の鳥居、二の鳥居と言い複数の鳥居をくぐるごとに神聖さが高まります。佐助稲荷神社はとても幻想的な空気の中に朱色の鳥居が49基建っています。深い緑に囲まれた佐助稲荷の境内は、今も隠れ里の雰囲気に包まれています。

    The torii represents a dividing line (kekkai) between sacred and secular areas, serving as an entrance to the sacred world in Shinto shrines and other holy places. We call the first of the torii "ichi no torii' and the second of the torii "ni no torii," starting with the one farthest from the shrine. Sacredness increases whenever You pass through the plural toriis. 49 cinnabar red toriis are built in Sasuke Inari Shrine in very fantastic air. The precincts of Sasuke Inari among deep green are still surrounded in the atmosphere of the Kakurezato.
